The MSG TURBO-AIR NX8000 is a three-stage integrally geared centrifugal air compressor for large industrial instrument-air and plant-air duties. Its engineered package integrates inlet filtration, lubrication, intercooling and a high-efficiency electric driver.
The NX8000 combines an integrally geared airend with optimized inlets, impellers, diffusers and discharge scrolls. The reference design integrates air passages and cooler interfaces into the main casting. Gearbox access and serviceable cooler arrangements support inspection of a large continuous-duty installation.
Close-clearance, non-contact air and oil labyrinth seals are separated by an atmospheric space. The sealing arrangement isolates the compression path from the lubricant without requiring seal gas for the labyrinth seals. Clean instrument air may still be required for pneumatic control devices.
The referenced Rev. 0 package specifies Cu/Ni 90/10 intercoolers and an external TEMA C aftercooler. Later project documents include revised material requirements. Cooler metallurgy, water quality, corrosion allowance and the current performance revision must therefore be reconciled before supply.
A shaft-driven main pump and full-flow electric auxiliary pump provide forced-feed lubrication. The oil system includes a water-cooled cooler, temperature regulation, filtration and vented reservoir. The quoted rigid carbon-steel base supports the compressor, driver, oil system, process piping and local instrumentation.
The available project specifies a Siemens S7-1518FH-type unit-control PLC or equivalent, with a separate shared emergency-shutdown panel. Anti-surge and performance control are implemented in the PLC. Bently Nevada monitoring and bearing-temperature instrumentation are included in the proposed protection architecture. This is a project-specific system, not a universal MXS specification.
The quoted inlet filter uses two filtration stages and is sized for the selected normal flow. Inlet guide vanes regulate capacity; a modulating blow-off valve and silencer provide stable operation at low demand. Pressure measurement before the check valve supports regulation and protection.
The final quotation defines included equipment and options. Depending on the selected duty, the package can include:
The manufacturer envelope describes available model-family selections. The Rev. 0 values below are one engineered package. Later performance and materials revisions govern final supply once agreed.
| Published nominal power | 750–2,700 kW |
|---|---|
| Published discharge pressure | 2.5–40 barg |
| Published flow | 135–310 m³/min (manufacturer catalogue basis) |
Range endpoints are not one simultaneous operating point. Flow reference conditions and the selected pressure determine the available duty. Dimensions and mass are catalogue guidance; installation must use the approved general arrangement.
The following values describe an individual Ingersoll Rand proposal. They are project-specific and are not universal ratings of the compressor family. Flow reference conditions and gauge or absolute pressure must be retained when comparing equipment.
| Discharge pressure at battery limit | 10.2 barg |
|---|---|
| Normal flow | 12,860 Nm³/h |
| Inlet temperatures evaluated | 38°C and −13°C |
| Calculated shaft power | 1,537 kW at 38°C; 1,470 kW at −13°C |
| Offered motor | 1,695 kW / 6 kV / 50 Hz / safe area |
| Revision control | These values are from Rev. 0. Later performance curves and material revisions must be reviewed before final selection. |
Send AVISTA your required pressure, flow with its reference conditions, operating temperature, cooling-water data, electrical supply and installation requirements. AVISTA can assist with package selection, commissioning and spare-parts planning.
Large oil and gas, petrochemical, power-generation and continuous-duty plant-air or instrument-air systems are potential applications. Confirm pressure, air quality, operating profile and site utilities before selection. Oil-free air still requires appropriate treatment where a specified dew point or particle class is needed.
Installation planning covers cooling-water connections, condensate drainage, inlet and discharge piping, blow-off routing, electrical protection, instrument air and maintenance clearances. Package dimensions, lifting data and utility loads should be taken from the approved project drawings.
AVISTA can support duty selection, technical clarification, quotation, documentation coordination, commissioning, maintenance planning and genuine spare parts. Send required flow with reference conditions, discharge pressure, inlet temperature range, humidity, elevation, cooling-water data, electrical supply and control interfaces for an engineered selection.
Yes. The available proposal demonstrates an engineered PLC/ESD and machinery-monitoring package. Required interfaces, protective functions, redundancy and site standards are established during technical clarification.
Yes. The TURBO-AIR design separates the compressed-air path from the lubricated gearing and bearings. Final air-treatment requirements and the selected package are confirmed during technical review.
They describe the stated engineering selections or catalogue envelope. A project guarantee requires an agreed duty point, reference conditions, scope and performance curve.
