The MSG Centac C700n is a variable-speed centrifugal air compressor for systems with changing air demand. It combines a frequency drive with inlet guide vane throttling to control capacity and reduce power consumption during part-load operation.
C700n combines a variable-frequency drive with inlet guide vane regulation. The reference control sequence first reduces speed with guide vanes open, then uses guide vane modulation as demand falls further. Below the selected minimum throttled flow, bypass control maintains stable operation. The usable speed and turndown range must be determined from the selected curve.
Each stage uses a backward-leaning 15-5 PH stainless-steel impeller on its own geared pinion. A common bullgear distributes driver power, with AGMA 12 helical gearing specified in the standard technical proposal. Dynamically balanced assemblies and vibration probes support smooth operation and protection.
Hydrodynamic journal and thrust bearings support the pinions and bullgear. Floating carbon-ring cartridges separate process air from lubricant using seal air and atmospheric venting. Seal-air pressure is monitored; the standard proposal includes an interlock associated with auxiliary lubrication.
Depending on stage selection, the airend includes one or two cartridge intercoolers and an aftercooler. Mesh moisture separators and traps remove condensate. A cooling-water manifold is optional. The baseplate reservoir, shaft-driven main pump, electric pre/post-lube pump, oil cooler, filter, heater and pressure instrumentation form the self-contained lubrication system.
The available standard proposal specifies a SIMATIC S7-1200 PLC and TP900 Comfort 9-inch touchscreen. Functions include constant-pressure PID regulation, anti-surge control, current limitation, alarm/shutdown sequencing and motor temperature monitoring. Modbus TCP/IP and Ethernet support plant integration. Motor speed, current and power signals are exchanged with the inverter.
In the standard scope the VFD is supplied loose for installation by the customer. Motor/VFD cables, network connection, cable lengths, filtering and protection require coordinated electrical design. Foundation work, external piping and interconnecting cabling are defined separately from the compressor package.
The final quotation defines included equipment and options. Depending on the selected duty, the package can include:
The available technical proposal is a configurable template. Its control architecture is described here, while the published envelope below provides family-level guidance. No customer-specific duty or motor selection has been confirmed.
| Published nominal power | 200–700 kW |
|---|---|
| Published discharge pressure | 3.1–10.3 barg |
| Published flow | 54–119 m³/min (manufacturer catalogue basis) |
| Catalogue dimensions (L × W × H) | 4,570 × 2,090 × 2,010 mm |
| Catalogue weight | 9,550 kg; confirm selected package |
Range endpoints are not one simultaneous operating point. Flow reference conditions and the selected pressure determine the available duty. Dimensions and mass are catalogue guidance; installation must use the approved general arrangement.
Pressure, air flow, motor power, drive selection and cooling requirements are engineered for the customer duty. The standard proposal is a configurable template and does not define a confirmed project rating.
Send AVISTA your required pressure, flow with its reference conditions, operating temperature, cooling-water data, electrical supply and installation requirements. AVISTA can assist with package selection, commissioning and spare-parts planning.
Industrial compressed-air networks with varying demand and seasonal operating conditions are potential applications. Confirm pressure, air quality, operating profile and site utilities before selection. Oil-free air still requires appropriate treatment where a specified dew point or particle class is needed.
Installation planning covers cooling-water connections, condensate drainage, inlet and discharge piping, blow-off routing, electrical protection, instrument air and maintenance clearances. Package dimensions, lifting data and utility loads should be taken from the approved project drawings.
AVISTA can support duty selection, technical clarification, quotation, documentation coordination, commissioning, maintenance planning and genuine spare parts. Send required flow with reference conditions, discharge pressure, inlet temperature range, humidity, elevation, cooling-water data, electrical supply and control interfaces for an engineered selection.
It is intended for air systems with varying demand where coordinated speed and guide vane control can reduce part-load power and excess blow-off. Selection should use the actual demand profile and ambient operating range.
Yes. The Centac design separates the compressed-air path from the lubricated gearing and bearings. Final air-treatment requirements and the selected package are confirmed during technical review.
They describe the stated engineering selections or catalogue envelope. A project guarantee requires an agreed duty point, reference conditions, scope and performance curve.
